The Opportunity

We are expanding our Professional Services team into Europe to serve a growing portfolio of enterprise customers across the region, with an initial focus on Germany and the DACH market. This is a fully remote contractor engagement — and it is not a support role. It is a delivery role with full account ownership from day one.

As a Senior Technical Consultant, you will be the primary technical and consultative presence for your regional customer portfolio. You will lead implementation projects end-to-end, serve as a trusted technical advisor to security operations leadership, and work hands-on within the Devo platform to build parsers, dashboards, alerts, and custom content that solve real problems for real customers.

You will also carry project management responsibility for your engagements — owning timelines, coordinating internal and customer stakeholders, and driving outcomes without being told what to do next. Some weeks are customer firefights. Some weeks are strategic planning. It is never boring, and you will never be an order-taker.

The right candidate sees complexity as an invitation, builds relationships as naturally as they write Python, and gets energized by walking a CISO through why their current approach is broken — and then showing them exactly how to fix it.

Responsibilities

Customer Delivery & Implementation

  • Own end to end implementation of the Devo platform for a portfolio of enterprise customers across your European region.
  • Develop parsers, dashboards, alerts, and custom platform content based on customer security and operational requirements.
  • Support system architecture definition, hardware and software specification, design, testing, training, and solution deployment.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers throughout the engagement lifecycle — from kickoff through steady-state operations.
  • This is a fully remote engagement. Travel to customer sites across Germany and the broader European portfolio is required on a regular basis — typically several days per month depending on active engagements.

Project Management

  • Lead project planning and execution across multiple simultaneous engagements, owning scope, timelines, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Coordinate internal cross-functional teams — including engineering, product, and account management — to deliver against customer commitments.
  • Produce and maintain project documentation, status reporting, and executive-level progress updates for both customers and internal leadership.
  • Identify and escalate risks proactively, and drive resolution without waiting to be asked.

Customer Relationship & Business Development

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor and advocate for your customers in internal meetings — you represent their interests, not just your own project.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with security operations leadership, including CISOs, SOC managers, and VP-level stakeholders.
  • Identify additional product and services opportunities within your customer portfolio and surface them in partnership with your Account Manager.
  • Participate in pre-sales and proposal presentations as needed to support regional growth.

Technical Contribution

  • Write and maintain Python scripts to automate data ingestion, parsing, and transformation workflows within the Devo platform.
  • Work with large, complex datasets using Big Data query languages (SPL, SQL, Linq, and similar).
  • Troubleshoot production issues across Linux and Windows environments, providing timely root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Contribute to the regional PS team's shared knowledge base, documentation standards, and delivery best practices.

Requirements

Required

  • Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish — written and spoken. You will operate across both languages with enterprise customers and internal stakeholders. German proficiency is a meaningful advantage given the regional focus.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical services, professional services, or software engineering implementation role.
  • Hands-on Python scripting experience in a production or customer-facing context — not just for analysis, but for building automated workflows and parsing solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with customers or clients to install, configure, and support technology products.
  • Experience writing queries and working with Big Data — SQL, SPL, Linq, or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and customer engagements in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present to executive-level audiences.
  • Based in Germany or the broader DACH region, with full authorization to work as an independent contractor. EU work authorization required; no sponsorship available.

Highly Desired

  • Experience with AWS (S3, Lambda, CloudTrail, or equivalent cloud-native services).
  • Experience deploying, administering, or consulting on SIEM platforms — Splunk, Elastic, ArcSight, QRadar, or similar.
  • Prior experience working for a SIEM vendor or delivering consulting in a SOC environment.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, Perl, TCL, or similar scripting languages in addition to Python.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • German language proficiency is a significant advantage given the regional focus. Additional European languages beyond English and Spanish are always a plus.

Background Experience — Day-One Platform Fit

  • Regular Expressions and data parsing
  • Syslog and log management fundamentals
  • CLI tools, REST APIs, and UI-based platform administration
  • Git, Jira, and Confluence for project and delivery management
  • Cybersecurity domain knowledge — SOC operations, threat detection, incident response workflows

Core Competencies

We assess every TC candidate against Devo's PS competency model. The following are the behaviors that define success in this role:

Action Oriented

You move. You see what needs to happen and you make it happen without being managed into it.

Customer Focus

You represent the customer's interests, not just your project. Their success is your metric.

Manages Complexity

You hold multiple engagements, technical problems, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously — and nothing falls.

Communicates Effectively

You can explain a complex data ingestion architecture to a CISO and write a precise Python parser in the same afternoon.

Drives Results

You own outcomes, not just activities. You don't close a ticket — you solve a problem.

Collaborates

You work across engineering, product, sales, and customer teams without friction.

Plans & Aligns

You build realistic project plans, communicate proactively when reality diverges from them, and keep everyone aligned.

Tech Savvy

You learn new platforms quickly, and you bring structured thinking to unfamiliar technical environments.

Interpersonal Savvy

You build trust with technically skeptical customers. You know when to push back and when to listen.

Resourcefulness

You find a way. Limited documentation, ambiguous requirements, and tight timelines are normal conditions, not exceptions.

Why Devo — Why This Role

There are plenty of technical consultant roles in the market. Here is what makes this one different:

  • Account ownership from day one. You inherit enterprise accounts — Fortune 500 banks, telecom giants, security-conscious enterprises — not internal projects or shadow work.
  • Technical depth, not just technical presence. Unlike pre-sales SE roles, you build, configure, and deliver. You get into the platform and solve real problems alongside the customer.
  • A seat at the table with security leadership. CISOs, SOC directors, and VP-level security stakeholders are your day-to-day. If that energizes you, you will thrive here.
  • A rebuilding team with high standards. We are intentionally growing our PS team with people who raise the bar, not fill headcount. Your impact will be visible and meaningful.
  • A platform worth championing. Devo is genuinely differentiated — real-time analytics at scale, multi-tenancy, and low TCO that enterprise teams cannot get elsewhere. You will believe in what you sell.

Devo does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status or disability (in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act) with respect to employment opportunities.

Don’t meet every single requirement? At Devo we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

At Devo, diversity and inclusion means more than treating employees well and making them feel welcome. It is a commitment to hiring people who bring different insights because of their unique perspectives, ways of thinking, and prior experiences.

We intend to continue hiring great people and protecting our culture so everyone can be themselves and speak their minds. That way Devo will always be a place filled with purpose, energy, hard work, thoughtfulness, and respect.
