Summary:

We are currently seeking a Payroll Manager, LATAM to join our Payroll team in Mexico.

What your team does:

Clio’s Payroll team sits within Total Rewards on the People Team and is responsible for delivering a seamless, reliable, and supportive pay experience for every Clion around the globe. We believe timely, accurate pay and meaningful benefits are more than transactions—they’re foundational to trust, well-being, and engagement. We live the value #customersuccesscomesfirst by treating every Clion as our customer: showing up with ownership, responsiveness, and care across Slack support channels, Freshservice tickets, and our shared inboxes. We make clear commitments, meet our deadlines, and are known for delivering high-quality results on time—every time.

Who you are:

You’re a hands-on, strategic payroll leader who thrives in complexity—balancing day-to-day delivery with building scalable, standardized processes. You bring deep multi-country LATAM payroll expertise, a strong compliance mindset, and the ability to partner effectively across People, Finance, Tax, and external vendors. You’re comfortable driving change, improving controls, and preparing payroll populations for platform implementations (CloudPay and Remote) without missing a beat on accurate, on-time payroll.

As Payroll Manager, LATAM, you’ll lead multi-country payroll operations across Latin America, including but not limited to Uruguay, Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Chile. You’ll own end-to-end payroll governance, ensure country-specific compliance, and help streamline and standardize a payroll landscape currently delivered through a mix of local accounting firms, in-country processing methods, and vendors—while simultaneously preparing populations for CloudPay or Remote implementations where applicable. You’ll also oversee and develop a payroll team and act as a trusted SME across the business.

What you’ll work on:

  • Own end-to-end LATAM payroll delivery and governance across countries including but not limited to Uruguay, Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Chile (calendars, cutoffs, approvals, reconciliations, issue resolution).

  • Drive compliance across LATAM, including tax/statutory reporting, withholdings/deductions, employment-law-driven pay requirements, and CBA/union impacts where applicable.

  • Standardize and de-risk current multi-country payroll operations (SOPs, controls, inputs/approvals, reconciliation practices) while preparing for CloudPay or Remote implementations.

  • Partner with Remote and CloudPay to manage regulatory change, vendor performance, and payroll transformation initiatives (CloudPay migrations, Workday integration workstreams, parallel runs/UAT, go-live, hypercare), in partnership with the Payroll Implementation Specialist.

  • Lead payroll accounting coordination and benefits premium accuracy (funding, accruals, GL mapping support; ensuring benefits premiums are correctly recorded, taxed, and reconciled in Remote and/or CloudPay) in partnership with Finance/Accounting and Benefits.

  • Lead and develop the payroll team; serve as a payroll SME for People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and hiring managers.

What you may have:

  • 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-country LATAM scope (including but not limited to Uruguay, Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Chile).

  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance (tax, statutory reporting, social security/pension, and employment-law-driven pay requirements).

  • Proven payroll governance experience, including documented controls and SOPs, audit-ready documentation, gross-to-net review, variance analysis, and reconciliations.

  • Demonstrated vendor management experience (e.g., local accounting firms, in-country processing partners, and payroll providers), including SLA oversight and issue resolution.

  • People leadership experience—hiring, coaching, developing, and performance managing payroll professionals.

  • Strong, collaborative cross-functional partnership skills—able to work closely with People Ops, Benefits, Legal, Finance/Accounting, and Tax to align on inputs, timelines, reporting, and employee communications.

  • Fluency in English and Spanish.

Serious bonus points if you have:

  • Hands-on experience with CloudPay and/or Remote (EOR and contractor models).

  • Workday HRIS/payroll integration experience (interfaces, pay element mapping, reporting, exception handling).

  • Payroll implementation or migration leadership (parallel runs, UAT, go-live, stabilization/hypercare).

  • Experience with CBAs/union payroll administration in LATAM.

  • Payroll certifications and/or advanced payroll compliance training.

  • Fluency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
