We’re currently seeking a Sponsorship and Special Events Manager to join our Marketing team in Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary.
Who you are:
As the Sponsorship and Special Events Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of the Clio Cloud Conference (ClioCon)—the premier event for the legal industry to connect, innovate, and showcase transformative solutions. In this high-impact role, you will lead the design and execution of sponsorship and exhibitor programs, fostering partnerships with industry leaders and creating unparalleled opportunities for them to amplify their brands. Your innovative approach and event expertise will ensure the seamless integration of sponsorship activations into the overall conference experience, enhancing value for both partners and attendees.
You will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and engaging in complex logistical planning to deliver exceptional results that align with ClioCon’s overarching strategy and vision. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will collaborate on driving revenue growth, uncovering new partnership opportunities, and executing flawless branding and event logistics. By ensuring every element of sponsorship and exhibitor engagement is thoughtfully crafted and executed, your efforts will directly contribute to elevating ClioCon’s reputation as the must-attend event for businesses and professionals in the legal technology space.
What your team does:
Our dynamic team is data-driven and results-focused on meaningful engagement with the legal community, our customers, and our prospects to support our business goals. The Strategic Engagement Team has a diverse portfolio: managing bar partnerships, live events, monthly meetups, Clio’s CLE and marketing webinars, channel marketing, and the execution of the industry-leading Clio Cloud Conference.
Who you are:
You are a results-oriented professional with a proven ability to forge and nurture high-value partnerships. You have strong sales acumen and a deep understanding of how to create sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities that deliver measurable ROI for partners while driving revenue growth for the organization. With an entrepreneurial mindset, you proactively identify and pursue new partnership opportunities, leveraging your excellent negotiation and relationship skills to create and manage long-term, meaningful partnerships. Your ability to develop innovative sponsorship packages and compelling sales pitches sets you apart, as does your knack for identifying the unique goals of each partner and aligning them with strategic recommendations.
Beyond sales, you have a background in the events world and go above-and-beyond to ensure an unparalleled experience year-round. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, deadline-driven environment and excel at collaborating cross functionally. You’ll work alongside internal marketing and event agency teams to ensure sponsorship activations are flawlessly executed, enhancing both partner ROI and attendee engagement. What you'll work on:
Develop, evolve, and execute an exhibitor and sponsorship strategy with clear milestones, and intended outcomes that drive ROI opportunities for our event partners
Negotiate and sell exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities at ClioCon
Own exhibitor and sponsorship planning, logistics, on-site execution, and relationship management
Develop and evolve the strategy to drive legal vendor registrations and pathways to exhibiting
Forecast revenue, budget event costs, negotiate and manage exhibitor and sponsorship contracts
Source event vendors and work in partnership with them to build, furnish, equip, and brand exceptional event spaces
Thoroughly map event spaces to enable venue planning, required approvals, and scoping vendor needs with detailed asset and cost tracking
Coordinate the set-up of and execute against building out event tools and technology for event engagement and execution
Get the right content, context, and details to/from internal stakeholders involved in program execution and track relevant logistical details
Plan and logistically support event planning needs, especially those that further or contribute to the attendee and sponsorship experience
Understand the competitive landscape and seek out opportunities to differentiate and elevate ClioCon’s partnership experience
Conceptualize, execute, and iterate on experiments that seek to increase revenue, NPS, partner ROI, and internal efficiencies
Manage multiple priorities simultaneously, with the capacity to execute against the current goals while also looking ahead and executing against future events
Work within your team to communicate the status and results of your portfolio
Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners and vendors that can elevate and expand the program's footprint.

What you may have:
3+ years of event planning or event marketing experience
3+ years of experience in a Sales or Business Development or Partnerships role
An entrepreneurial mindset with creative problem-solving skills
A proven track record of knocking goals out of the park and leading cross-functional efforts
The ability to quickly pivot and adapt to rapidly changing circumstances
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience using Asana and GSuite
Serious bonus points if you have:
Experience with the legal industry
Ability to navigate Excel, Event Space Planning Tools, and Salesforce with ease
Experience using Cvent and space planning tools.

*We aim to hire all candidates between the minimum and the midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the maximum of the salary band for internal employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on individual experience and skillset of the candidate. Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.
