Summary:

The Product Operations Director is responsible for elevating and accelerating the R&D team, and Clio as a whole, through the establishment of best practices, and adherence to tools, systems, and consistent, repeatable processes. This role will require an experienced leader to build out the Product Operations function at Clio.

This role is available to candidates across Canada (excluding Quebec) and the US. If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto) you will be expected to be in office minimum once per week on one of our Anchor Days.

What you’ll work on:

  • Strategic Program Oversight:

    • Annual Planning: Establish good practices for our annual planning process including working with our partners in other departments and steer it effectively.

    • Program Management: Lead the monitoring of major R&D initiatives, focusing on risk identification and mitigation to ensure project success.

    • Roadmap and Business Review Management: Take charge of tracking and reporting on roadmap attainment across all teams, using our advanced roadmapping tools. You will be responsible for managing the content creation process for the R&D monthly business review where we present the status of our key programs and roadmap achievements to the executive team.

    • OKR Management: Oversee the process within R&D where we develop our OKRs and communicate attainment in our monthly business reviews.

  • Operational Excellence and Process Improvement:

    • PDLC Improvement and Enforcement: Drive the continuous enhancement of our PDLC and SDLC processes, ensuring consistent and effective use of roadmapping tools and documentation artifacts.

    • Efficiency Enhancements: Implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiencies within the Product Management, Design, and Engineering teams (collectively R&D). Standardize processes such as GTM planning, beta releases, and product launch protocols.

  • Data Analysis and Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Insightful Data Analysis: Build systems for capturing, reviewing, and analyzing data to provide actionable insights to continuously improve our execution.

    • Team Velocity and Impact Enhancement: Strategically reduce overhead and elevate the velocity of our teams by introducing efficient processes and frameworks, enhancing the overall impact of our R&D functions.

    • Cross-Functional Team work: Work closely with stakeholders across the business to align operations and enhance cross-departmental collaboration through projects like NPS and UMUX surveys, squad dashboards, and enablement processes.

  • Team Development and Best Practice Formulation:

    • Team Growth and Support: Support the growth, development, and collaboration of the Product Management, Design, and Engineering teams through effective onboarding, continuous learning and development initiatives.

    • Best Practice Development: Develop and share best practice templates to guide product managers and stakeholders, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence across the organization.

What you bring

  • You have 8+ years of experience leading product operations, program management, or an operational role that worked closely with product and engineering teams.

  • You have led transformation programs successfully at large R&D organizations.

  • Experience digging deep into the data, analyzing the performance of product development squads and implementing ways to improve their velocity and quality of output.

  • Excellent program management and a can-do attitude, able to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Are able to understand the product in order to be more effective at helping the teams achieve their goals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and are great at explaining highly technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Exceptional ability to build relationships and align teams on ways of working.

Serious bonus points if you have

  • Proficiency in Agile or Scrum methodologies.

  • Experience in a high growth technology company.

  • Experience in people leadership.

The full salary range* for this role is $188,000 to $235,000 to $282,000 CAD.Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.

In addition, this role is eligible for variable pay that is based on company performance, with actual payout amounts calculated and paid on a quarterly basis.

*We aim to hire all candidates between the minimum and the midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the maximum of the salary band for internal employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on individual experience and skillset of the candidate. Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.
