The Role

As a Cloud FinOps Specialist, you will be part engineer, part analyst: a technical and cost management leader supporting a complex, multi-cloud environment. This role goes beyond mere cost management; you will help internal customers improve their cloud deployments by using FinOps best practices to steer teams toward efficient cloud consumption. You will provide technical guidance to help teams find the intersection of cost, performance, and business value. You will deploy, configure, and support FinOps tooling, and train end users as needed. As a FinOps Specialist, you will also play a crucial role in the month-end close process, budgeting, and forecasting.

This role requires a strong knowledge of cloud technologies, financial acumen, and analytical skills. Hands-on technical experience deploying and operating cloud services is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze complex, multi-cloud cost and performance datasets to facilitate usage and rate optimization.
• Participate in complex architectural discussions to help product/project teams make cost-efficient technology choices.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on cloud financial management best practices, cost management mechanisms, and cost-effective cloud architecture.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and their teams to support them with FinOps tools, processes, and data.
• Deploy and maintain commercial and open source FinOps tools, training end users as needed.
• Investigate cost anomalies and discrepancies to identify root causes and communicate corrective actions.
• Stay updated on cloud pricing models, cost management tools, and standard methodologies in FinOps.
• Create accurate forecasting of cloud spend.
• Identify optimization opportunities and reduce waste, tracking opportunities to resolution.
• Provide cost analysis/usage reports to key personnel on a set cadence.
• Drive a culture of cost accountability.

Requirements:

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline
• 2-4 Years of hands-on experience deploying and managing resources in AWS and/or Azure.
• 1-3 Years of FinOps or Cloud Operations experience
• Technical understanding of core AWS and Azure service offerings
• FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Cloud Practitioner and/or Azure Fundamentals certification
• Experience configuring and maintaining Cloudability, CloudZero, FinOut, AWS Cloud Intelligence Dashboards, Azure FinOps Hub, or similar cloud financial management platforms.
• Strong quantitative data analysis skills: ability to use hard data and metrics to support assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, and PowerPoint or similar programs
• Superior planning, organization, and problem-solving ability
• Excellent relationship building and people skills.

Preferred:

• Experience in a multi-cloud environment with cloud spend exceeding $1m/mo
• Experience communicating complex financial and technical content to both executives and finance/technology personnel.
