Responsibilities

The Workplace Design team works alongside Space Intelligence and Space Process & Experience within Workplace Design Solutions. The team establishes and evolves Workplace Design Standards aligned with ByteDance culture and brand, while responding to regional needs. It is responsible for the creation and coordination of technical drawing standards, defines how we use our spaces, and brings together quantitative and qualitative insights to create purposeful, logical environments that reflect our culture and ways of working. Responsibilities: Global Workplace Design - Collaborate with the global workplace design team to evolve design standards, defining performance criteria for key space types, functional ratios, sustainability, and environmental quality. - Ensure standards enable consistency while allowing for regional flexibility, innovation, and adaptability across different office models. - Shape workplace environments that support focus, collaboration, wellbeing, and long-term operational efficiency. Technical Design & Specification - Develop technical and performance-based guidelines, including: Acoustic performance standards, Lighting design criteria, Accessibility requirements, Environmental quality benchmarks. - Review and guide architectural and interior drawing packages to ensure design intent, technical quality, and alignment with global standards. - Translate design concepts into clear, actionable documentation for internal teams and external consultants. Design Systems, Tools & Documentation - Contribute to the development of scalable design systems and tools that support workplace planning and decision-making, such as: Room data sheets with defined performance, material, and spatial requirements; Space planning principles and meeting room ratios; Flexible workplace programs for various office types and project durations. - Strong in technical 2d & 3d CAD drawing (eg Autocad, Revit) creating master plan, phasing and zoning diagrams, technical drawings and detailed understanding of workplace environment. - Prepare documentation that supports cost transparency, efficient delivery, and consistent quality across regions. Cross-Functional & External Collaboration - Partner with internal teams (IT, Catering, Administration, Real Estate, Operations, etc.) to integrate operational needs into workplace design. - Collaborate with external architects, interior designers, and specialist consultants to deliver workplace solutions in line with business growth. - Serve as a trusted design advisor, providing clear direction while enabling teams to execute efficiently. Brand, Identity & Experience - Support the development and application of workplace identity, ensuring spatial expression, wayfinding, and environmental graphics reflect organizational brand and culture. - Balance global consistency with local relevance across long-term and short-term office spaces.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or higher. - Minimum 5 years of experience in workplace architecture, interior design, or a similar role within a corporate environment, with a proven track record in fast-paced and evolving workplace settings where adaptability and iterative design are essential. - Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit) is essential, Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) for producing design presentations, visual narratives, and environmental graphics such as signage and wayfinding. - Solid technical knowledge in workplace design, including phasing, space planning & zoning, specification, and due diligence, with an understanding of security, catering, and facilities management requirements. - Have experience with RFP and Procurement. - Willingness to take informed design risks to improve workplace performance, employee experience, and long-term flexibility. Preferred Qualifications: - Strategic, innovative, and progressive mindset, with the ability to challenge conventions while balancing creativity with technical and operational requirements. - Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with external design teams while staying aligned with internal business goals and constraints. - Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing across regions and functions and translating business needs into design solutions.
