The Engineering team includes Data, IT, Security, and Software, and is responsible for building innovative products and infrastructure for Brex and our customers. Where you’ll work

This role will be based in our Vancouver office. You must be willing to work in office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year.

IT Corporate Engineering at Brex

What you’ll do

The Senior IT Systems Engineer for Corporate Engineering role involves building, integrating, and monitoring internal tooling infrastructure at Brex, focusing on efficient and automated business processes, data-driven decision-making, and integrating internal services, data sources, and SaaS tools. They maintain core systems for authentication, communication, collaboration, and device access, develop SaaS-first solutions for integration and automation, build tools for user self-sufficiency, and provide Tier 3 support as subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and scale IT infrastructure, services and tooling
  • Work with a diverse group of IT partners to optimize our provided services
  • Implement new services in support of Information Technologies vision
  • Scale our services by implementing configuration as code via Terraform providers or API and/or building tooling
  • Operationalize and upskill IT and its partners by producing documentation and leading training sessions
  • Evangelize best practices both internally and externally facing

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
  • Fluency in DevOps Concepts, CI/CD, working with Github, Kubernetes, Terraform and configuration as code
  • Experience in security protocols and products including Okta, SAML, OIDC, OAuth
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks and vulnerabilities
  • Fluency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Ruby, Golang)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to communicate complete technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Bonus points

  • Advanced knowledge of Intune or enterprise patch management tooling
  • Advanced knowledge of Python
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Previous experience in an IT support role
  • Experience managing macOS or Windows systems at scale
  • Familiarity with Github Actions, Tines and Linear
  • Experience with Google Workspace administration
  • Experience with micro-services-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $172,000 - $215,000 CAD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
