What you’ll do

As the People Business Partner Director for Engineering, you will partner directly with the Head of Engineering to deliver initiatives that unlock the full potential of our leaders and teams to accelerate their strategic priorities. As we continue to expand our presence in Brazil, you will also serve as our People country leader, responsible for assessing, advocating, and advising on all Brazil-specific People programs and processes. This is a very active and visible role both in Engineering and Brazil: you’ll design and execute our People roadmap and strategy for the department and country on a day-to-day, quarter-to-quarter, and year-to-year basis. You will drive significant business results and make an immediate impact through your expertise in organizational design, human capital strategy, and leadership coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership: Provide partnership and support in the areas of organizational design, organizational development, succession planning, talent development, employee engagement, and change management.
  • Brazil People Country Leader: Serve as the primary point of contact for all People-related initiatives in Brazil, ensuring the effectiveness of programs, advising on local HR practices and compliance, and fostering a cohesive culture in collaboration with local and global teams.
  • Workforce Planning: Drive workforce planning initiatives and build capabilities needed to achieve the engineering department's vision and strategy, and Brazil’s future investment and expansion.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the People Team centers of excellence, cross-functional partners, and your peers to build world-class initiatives. We have a lot of processes that involve this role and we’ll be looking for someone who has a key eye for more efficiency and process improvement.
  • Program Management: Lead the communication and rollout of updated or new people programs and policies.
  • Consultation: Consult with engineering leaders and design custom solutions as needed.
  • Change Management: Support any change management efforts required by the engineering department or our talent population in Brazil in partnership with various People functions.
  • Trust & Culture: Protect a high trust culture through thorough and thoughtful resolution to employee concerns around potential breaches of Brex policies and values.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in human capital strategy and organizational development, ranging from career progression to executive coaching to talent development.
  • Proven experience with designing and implementing end-to-end change management plans inclusive of communications, training, sponsorship, and metrics.
  • Ability to assess organizational structure needs, design a series of feasible options, and develop a plan to implement these changes.
  • Comfort with working independently and autonomously to build and manage a project plan, capturing key milestones, dependencies, and resources needed.
  • In-depth knowledge of Brazilian labor laws, HR practices, and cultural norms to effectively guide People initiatives and ensure compliance.
  • Fluency in both Portuguese and English to facilitate seamless communication with local and global teams.

Bonus Points

  • Partner with the business as a thought partner and bring the voice of HR to the table.
  • Work autonomously and turn complex opportunities into realistic and actionable plans.
  • Quickly build trust-based relationships with leadership and deliver value across the business.
  • Previous management consulting experience across a variety of industries and clients.
