Job Description

You will join our local Believe office and work closely with the Believe’s teams and Sentric’s Publishing experts.

Location: Paris or London (therefore you may see two versions of this job posting advertised)
Contract terms: full-time, fixed term (1 year)
Reporting to: Department Manager – Copyright & Registrations

Job Description:

Local Writer Work Submissions

  • Work between Copyright team(s), clients and industry partners to ensure correct supporting documentation is submitted in order to complete full registrations at SACEM for local writers.

Counterclaim Resolution

  • Liaise with Copyright team(s), local publishers and local PRO to resolve all counterclaims that exist at designated PRO’s at both agreement and work level.

Registration Checks

  • Use data analysis to identify any gaps in registrations and follow up with designated PROs to ensure registrations are in place for missing works.

Post-Distribution Analysis

  • Work with Copyright and Royalties teams to understand distributions and liaise with designated PRO to ask questions where royalties are not meeting forecast expectations.

Territorial Expertise

  • Understand rules at designated PROs in relation to BIEM writers and be able to liaise with Client Management and Copyright teams to advise and answer queries.
  • Provide additional assistance to our client management team in liaising with our local signings and providing support with client onboarding, where necessary.

PRO Engagement

  • Where possible, attend all publisher briefings and sessions held by designated PROs in order to understand developments, feeding back information to Rights team and suggest changes to process where necessary or beneficial to maximising value of catalogue.
  • Build sustainable relationships with key operational personnel within designated PROs to ensure a swift resolution to any issues that may arise.
  • Be the first contact point for all communication from local PRO, resolving issues where possible and liaising between Copyright teams and local PRO where necessary.

Local Industry Engagement

  • Be Believe’s representative in country and engage with local music publisher association to raise profile of company within publishing community and keep on top of developments which publishing industry.

Management Reporting

  • Report back on all activity, issues and developments in local market to Rights team management at pre-determined times.
  • Work with Rights team management to review KPIs set for designated PRO(s) and liaise with PRO to ensure that they hit expectations.

Qualifications

  • Fluent French
  • Fluent English
  • At least 2 years experience working within publishing copyright industry
  • Strong Excel skills
  • SQL skills desirable
