About Allica Bank
Allica is the UK’s fastest growing company - and the fastest-growing financial technology (Fintech) firm ever. Our purpose is to help established SMEs, one of the last major underserved opportunities in Fintech.
Established SMEs are the backbone of local communities - representing over a third of our economy - yet have been largely neglected both by traditional high street banks and modern fintech providers.
Department Description
The Corporate Development Team drives Allica’s ambitious and distinctive growth strategy by spearheading the pursuit and execution of selective business M&A, portfolio purchases and forward flow lending partnerships, supporting capital raising and investor related activity, and supporting senior bank leadership to shape business strategy and make sound commercial decisions.
Purpose of Role
As Strategy & Corporate Development Manager you’ll be at the centre of Allica’s growth story—driving initiatives that define our next chapter. This is an opportunity to influence high-level decisions and help us scale rapidly as we win market share and transform SME banking.
In this role you’ll play a key role in Allica’s pursuit of opportunities across the end-to-end transaction lifecycle—from assessing opportunities to executing and integrating strategic mergers & acquisitions and lending partnerships. Beyond that, you’ll be deeply involved in capital raising, investor-engagement, and strategic analysis that shapes our business direction—and executing to make it happen. Expect to work on market research, competitive insights, due diligence and financial modelling, and developing relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders and advisors.
This is a unique and high-profile role in a small team where you’ll work closely with the Head of Corporate Development and gain significant exposure to Allica’s Executive and Board leadership. You’ll collaborate with experts across teams such as Finance, Legal, Product, Risk, Data, Distribution and Operations, developing a deep understanding of the inner workings of a modern bank.
Principal Accountabilities
• Produce strategic and financial analysis to evaluate mergers & acquisitions, portfolio purchases and lending partnership transaction opportunities
• Support the end-to-end execution and governance of transactions, including due diligence, negotiation, implementation and post-Day 1 integration and value creation, working and developing with external parties, advisers and functional subject matter experts across the bank
• Conduct market research and analyse macroeconomic, SME and competitor trends to support the strategy development of the bank and entry into new markets
• Help drive Allica’s capital raising activity, including the drafting of information memorandum materials and investor updates, and responding to ad hoc investor-related requests
• Produce logical, actionable and insightful reports to inform executive and board decision making
• Provide your colleagues in various teams across the bank with ad hoc strategic and commercial support
Personal Attributes & Experience
• 5-8 years of professional experience in a fast-paced top-tier strategy consultancy, investment bank or in-house corporate development/finance team
• Banking/fintech/specialist lending sector experience, which may be through direct experience working for a fast-growing fintech or bank, or through strategy project exposure; experience of commercial/SME lending in the UK and/or Europe a plus
• Experience of the buy-side M&A transaction process including commercial due diligence; experience of integration planning / post-Day 1 value creation a plus
• Sound understanding of corporate finance and accounting concepts and experience applying these by conducting quantitative financial analysis to assess commercial opportunities
• Able to independently lead strategic analyses by using structured thinking to simplify complex problems, seek out and work with structured and unstructured data, conduct analysis drawing on data and expert insights, and present insightful and actionable outputs
• Excellent technical Excel modelling and PowerPoint skills and ability to work quickly and accurately with high attention to detail
• Great communication skills with the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all levels and influence senior executive and board leadership
• Intellectually curious, highly driven and like a challenge, and see yourself thriving in a dynamic, fast-growing business where you can grow in the role
