Role Description

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the bank’s Operational Risk function, helping to maintain the Operational Risk Framework (ORF), related policies, and procedures, as well as ensuring the effective operation of the bank’s GRC system and processes. You will work closely with the Senior Operational Risk Manager to deliver the Operational Risk Assurance plan, including control testing, assurance reviews, deep-dive assessments, and scenario analysis feeding into ICAAP and ILAAP. A core aspect of the role will involve partnering with the First Line of Defence on the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process, including annual refreshes, while maintaining the Risk Register to ensure risks are accurately recorded, monitored, and action plans remain on track. You will also contribute to operational risk reporting by providing both quantitative and qualitative input, support the development and monitoring of the bank’s Risk Appetite Statement and Risk Management Framework, and assist senior risk leaders including the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Risk Officer in analysing the bank’s overall risk profile, producing monthly reports, and monitoring Key Risk Indicators.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide hands-on Operational Risk support across the bank from a Second Line perspective.

  • Operational Risk assurance, including Controls Testing - provision of assurance, reporting and identification capability to provide a full picture of the bank’s Operational Risks and related controls.

  • Working with the First Line and supporting the wider Compliance team colleagues to help embed the Three Lines of Defence, providing advice and guidance as necessary.

  • Provide support in monitoring, identifying and reporting of the Bank’s overall risk profile.

  • Promote a risk-focused culture across the bank and embodying the bank’s values.

Personal Attributes & Experience

  • Strong Operational Risk knowledge and experience including RCSAs, Controls and Risk Libraries, Risk Event reporting, Risk Registers.

  • Focused upon delivering results and meeting deadlines.

  • Good, clear communicator.

  • Ability to provide necessary challenge in a constructive manner.

  • Strong team player.
