Product Designer
Allica Bank
About Allica
Allica is the UK’s fastest growing company - and the fastest-growing financial technology (fintech) firm ever. Our purpose is to help established SMEs, one of the last major underserved opportunities in fintech. Established SMEs are the backbone of local communities - representing over a third of our economy - yet have been largely neglected both by traditional high street banks and modern fintech providers.
What's the opportunity?
Allica is a business that is undergoing rapid growth and transition—Having already launched a range of successful SME banking products and started work on a ground-breaking business current account, we’re now focusing on extending and enhancing our digital capabilities and customer experience. That’s where you come in.
We are looking for a world class Product Designer to join us and help to take Allica to the next level. As a product designer, you’ll work in our Lending Tribe where, amongst other things, you’ll leverage your exceptional problem-solving skills to help deliver new features and improvements for our commercial mortgage processing software – a product that aims to make complex underwriting and fulfilment processes effortless for its internal and external users.
Your mission is to drive user-centric UX improvements and integrate Allica’s design system. We genuinely care about the people and businesses that we serve so you’ll develop a deep understanding of their needs and behavior, then use that insight to establish the UX strategy and create world-class experiences that provide true value.
You’ll do meaningful product design work within a talented squad, consisting of a product owner and engineers. Together you will ship solutions to challenging banking problems and get crucial feedback directly from internal users and customers.
We’re creating a culture of collaboration, support, and creativity—we encourage people across the business to share knowledge and experiences to learn from one another and grow. You are an advocate of Design Thinking; your expertise positions you perfectly as a mentor to other designers and to help team members across the business solve problems.
People of different ages, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply—you'll be able to be yourself and feel valued no matter how who you are.
What will you be doing?
- Working with the Head of Design and your product owner to deliver best in class design solutions for your product squad—You’ll help drive the design vision and lead collaborative, user-centric design activities within your product squad. You’ll help make sure we’re designing and shipping the right things.
- Building a deep understanding of our users—You’ll support user research and learn from existing insights. You’ll be a strong and vocal user advocate so that customers are at the heart of everything we do.
- Analyzing user behavior data to gain insights and inform design decisions. By understanding how our customers interact with our products, you’ll contribute to the refinement of user experiences, ensuring our design solutions are not only intuitive but also empirically validated for maximum user engagement.
- Working through design problems from beginning to end—From translating customer insights into ideas to creating user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI.
- Creating simple, beautiful experiences that our customers love.
- Validating ideas quickly by creating and testing prototypes—User feedback is an essential part of our design process; we learn and iterate as we go.
- Working closely with product owners, product analysts and engineers—You’ll learn, scope and ship together and form a shared understanding of users, problems, and the product strategy.
- Helping elevate the status of design within the business—We have big plans for the design team, and you’ll have a key role in helping with design strategy and improving our community of practice
- Supporting and contributing to the evolution of the design language system. About You
- You’re a thoughtful, empathetic product designer, with a broad skillset spanning all aspects of UX and UI Design.
- You have a solid portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables.
- You have experience designing digital products and systems, not just websites, in a fast-moving or high-growth business.
- You love solving problems and simplifying complex processes. You articulate solutions clearly and concisely both verbally and diagrammatically.
- You are hypothesis-led and data-inspired: you are a scientist by nature, constantly homing in on problems and working with others to understand them deeply, before crafting elegant, validated solutions through a process of experimentation and rapid feedback and using a range of media and techniques.
- You want to help shape and nurture a growing design practice and discipline.
- You care about the future of financial services and want to shape the industry.
- You want to work with passionate, curious people who value bold ideas and attention to detail
- You are among the best at what you do and want to work with peers who challenge you to get better every day.
Don’t tick every box?
Don’t worry if you don’t have all the skills or requirements listed on the job description. If you think you’ll be a good fit, we’d still love to hear from you!
