Department Description

You would be an integral part of the Operational Risk team, reporting to the Senior Operational Risk Manager. You will be part of a wider team responsible for successfully delivering Second Line of Defence capability within the bank.

Role Description

  • Helping to maintain the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) including related Second Line policies and procedures in support of the bank’s Operational Risk system
  • Supporting the Senior Operational Risk Manager in implementing the bank’s Operational Risk Assurance plan
  • Undertake Control testing and Assurance reviews
  • Work with the First Line of Defence to support the bank’s Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and administration of the bank’s annual RCSA refresh
  • Operationally maintaining the bank’s risk event reporting system and processes
  • Providing quantitative and qualitative input into the Bank’s Operational Risk Reporting
  • Maintenance of the bank’s Risk Register so that risks are up to date with action plans on track and regular follow-ups
  • Support the Senior Operational Risk Manager with regular deep-dive reviews of the bank’s Operational Risk profile
  • Support the Senior Operational Risk Manager with Operational Risk scenario analysis across the business to include input into the Bank’s ICAAP and ILAAP
  • Support the Senior Operational Risk Manager, in maintaining the bank’s Risk Appetite Statement and Risk Management Framework
  • Support the Senior Operational Risk Manager, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Risk Officer in providing analysis of the Bank’s overall risk profile, including monthly reporting and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide hands-on Operational Risk support across the bank from a Second Line perspective
  • Operational Risk assurance, including Controls Testing - provision of assurance, reporting and identification capability to provide a full picture of the bank’s Operational Risks and related controls
  • Working with the First Line and supporting the wider Compliance team colleagues to help embed the Three Lines of Defence, proving advice and guidance as necessary
  • Provide support in monitoring, identifying and reporting of the Bank’s overall risk profile
  • Promote a risk-focused culture across the bank and embodying the bank’s values.

Personal Attributes & Experience

  • Strong Operational Risk knowledge and experience including RCSAs, Controls and Risk Libraries, Risk Event reporting, Risk Registers
  • Focused upon delivering results and meeting deadlines
  • Good, clear communicator
  • Ability to provide necessary challenge in a constructive manner
  • Strong team player
