Role Description

Data is a key asset to Allica and is deeply embedded in all our teams and products. In this role, you will set strategic direction and deliver on effective solutions to payments and deposits business problems through best-in-class use of data analytics. Your team is a key part of the Transaction Banking (Payments) Tribe, working with other colleagues within Payments, Finance, Operations, Distribution and other Executive Committee members from time to time.

We are looking for ambitious and curious data driven people who will thrive on making data a unique strength in our business. You will have experience in setting up data as a strategic asset through the right tooling, data quality management, data frameworks and operational processes. You will be happy to be hands-on and work with the engineering and analytics teams on setting up the foundations for data, you will be equally comfortable talking to Senior leaders to tell the stories using the power of data. Developing the team to build their Payments and Deposits domain knowledge, coaching them with their approach to analysis and coding, and building out a mentality of being problem solvers is a critical part of the role.

You will be an integral part of the Transaction Banking team, building and developing the analytics and insights capabilities of the Bank.

Principal Accountabilities

• Understand our Payments and Deposits products and processes through the data we have or collect
• Drive our transition from current nascent state of data frameworks to setting up a best-in-class strategic data model
• Lead the effort on significantly improving data quality and data access within Payments – at source and in how analytics teams use, clean and validate data
• Work with various stakeholders across the bank to understand key business problems and solve them using data. In the process, be part of the catalyst to drive a data-driven mindset within the Payments business and more generally in the company
• Manage and develop the team to become the go to area for Payment’s business intelligence
• Support the Payments Product Tribe in assessing the impact of products they build and launch – including setting up a framework for how we define data fields and productionise them
• Work closely with Data Engineering teams to upgrade the quality of our data architecture to allow more efficient and easier access to data going forward
• Support the team in their business-as-usual efforts – originating and maintaining data analytics ETLs, building and maintaining data libraries / dictionaries
• Develop the team from focusing on primarily reporting to moving to reporting capabilities that are largely self-serve

Personal Attributes & Experience

• Experience building a data foundation for a data-intensive business, including a working understanding of various data tools, data architecture and an expert understanding of logical data structures, data quality management and data analysis methods
• Strong ability in understanding and solving business problems using data, driving data-driven decision making, ideally within Transaction Banking
• Experience working and leading a team of analysts using SQL in a start-up or fast-paced organisation.
• Proven track record of data extraction and manipulation with SQL.
• Flexible to adapt quickly to changing priorities within a very dynamic environment and work well with stakeholders across the business.
• Effective communication skills and are comfortable translating technical detail into business and commercial language.
• Personable and able to communicate at all levels within the business.
