Department Description

Allica is building out its growth function, based around talented, empowered and autonomous individuals who will be responsible for product-based customer acquisition using a combination of channels to meet objectives set across the business. You will get an opportunity to work with different teams across the business including marketing, product squads, distribution, engineers and operations to deliver on Allica’s mission of becoming the UK’s most recommended business bank.

We are rare amongst banks in that our senior leadership team includes backgrounds at world-leading financial fintech firms, which shows in their active engagement with our product squads, and in our bank-wide adoption of modern tools and techniques such as Scrum and Jira.

Role Description

As the Technical Product Manager, in collaboration with the Product Manager, you will be part of a cross-functional squad comprising data engineers and analytics engineers. You will also work closely with peers in functions such as Marketing, Distribution, and Operations. The squad's goal is to deliver elegant customer analytics solutions that enable effective customer acquisition.

You will be responsible for driving the team's roadmap, managing day-to-day activities, overseeing development, planning, execution, and defining strategies for addressing risks. Your aim will be to build robust and automated systems and processes that enable rapid innovation in customer acquisition strategies.

The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, focused on delivery, and possesses enough technical expertise to execute small engineering tasks independently when necessary.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for innovating and delivering end-to-end analytics solutions for the growth squad.
  • Responsible for shaping our analytics product strategy, setting vision, direction, and roadmap, and driving the strategy forward.
  • Accountable for achieving commercial OKRs, including increasing balances.
  • Communicate with the team, leadership, and key stakeholders frequently, effectively, clearly, and assertively, articulating the problems being solved as well as the roadmap.
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Operations, and Risk to understand the requirements mainly driven by our high-growth plans and new product launches.
  • Ensure alignment, together with other Product Owners, to offer a cohesive product and proposition to our target customers.
  • Develop, prioritize, and execute the squad roadmap.
  • Define metrics to track and measure outcomes, and anchor decisions in data, using it to inform decision-making.
  • Be customer-focused; always seek deeper insights from customers and use this insight to create value.
  • Proactively define problems for your product area and partner with research to execute solutions.
  • Lead a dedicated cross-functional team (e.g., designers, front and back-end engineers) to deliver the roadmap.
  • Continuously review business needs, refine priorities, iterate to achieve milestones and deliverables, and identify and manage relevant risks.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and industry trends for your area, using these insights to inform product strategy.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate tracking, documentation, and risk management for the products and features created.

Personal Attributes & Experience

  • Significant experience in savings, as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a STEM major (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering).
  • Excellent knowledge of data science tools (Python, SQL) and production tools.
  • Deep understanding of the fundamentals of probability and statistics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an affinity for logically and structurally breaking down complex and broad problems.
  • Proficient in data analysis, comfortable working with large volumes of data to identify patterns and trends, and able to prioritize accordingly.
  • Decisive and assertive, capable of quickly resolving issues within the team and making meaningful decisions.
  • Ability to identify and anticipate risks and issues, proactively finding solutions.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in a fast-moving or high-growth business.
  • Proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions.
  • Strong skills in process engineering design, implementation, and automation.
  • Proven track record of utilizing data to deliver solutions and accelerate decision-making.
  • Experience in working with/leading product/engineering teams, with knowledge of Agile methodologies being a plus.
