Department Description

The Finance & Treasury function covers a broad spectrum of financial responsibilities for the Bank. Under the leadership of the CFO and the finance department heads, the team is responsible for equity raising and investor relations; treasury and liquidity management; prudential risk and regulatory reporting; financial reporting and accounting, financial planning, and tax management activities.

Role Description

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Snr Finance Manager to join Allica at a key stage of our growth . We achieved our first full year of profitability in 2023, with the finance team crucial to support the Bank’s ambitions over the coming years. The Snr Finance Manager role will lead the core period-end close and reporting processes, whilst driving significant improvements in our controls and supporting wider product initiatives. The role will suit an experienced Finance Manager/Financial Controller who is excited by working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and playing a leading role in designing the future state of the Bank’s controls and processes.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Leading and supporting a team of c.10 individuals, and responsible for the Bank’s period-end close processes, management reporting, variance analysis, controls, accounts payable and financial operations teams.
  • Owning the period-end close processes and delivering timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders.
  • Being an advocate for change, driving continuous improvements in controls and processes, embracing automation opportunities wherever possible.
  • Performance of variance analysis, reviewing variances against prior period actuals and forecasts and preparing summary commentary for management.
  • Support the year-end audit process, working closely with the Bank’s external auditors.
  • Working with the Finance Transformation/Product team and wider Product Owners in assessing new product initiatives ensuring the impact on financial control is considered and appropriate testing completed.
  • Responsibility for the Bank’s financial reconciliation team, ensuring the reconciliation landscape is appropriate and seeking to automate the transaction matching process wherever possible.
  • Preparation of papers for Board and Audit Committees wherever appropriate.

Personal Attributes & Experience

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent, ideally gained within a Big 4/Top 10 accountancy firm, with significant post qualified experience.
  • Previous experience of working in the Banking/FinTech/Financial Services industry, either in audit or in industry.
  • Experience of being responsible for a Group/Company’s period-end close & reporting process for a company of at least a similar size to Allica.
  • A genuine passion for FinTech and wants to contribute to the growth of Allica at an exciting phase of our journey.
  • Have strong analytical skillset, including the utilisation of data and reporting tools
  • Have the ability to work autonomously and be initiative-taking as required whilst working well within a team
  • Be able to solve complex problems
  • Strong influencing and people skills
  • Strong skills in MS Office, especially Excel.
