What you’ll do & Who you are
About the role
We are looking for a Technical Product Manager (d/f/m) to join our Dealer Product Team organisation. In this role, you will take ownership of our central Vehicle Data API —a complex, business-critical platform capability that powers key experiences and processes across mobile.de.
You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, design, business development, marketing, and sales to increase dealer and mobile.de business value—by ensuring our vehicle data is reliable, scalable, and easy to consume for internal and external stakeholders.
This is a role for someone who’s comfortable owning a technical product that isn’t directly customer-facing, but forms the foundation for many customer-facing products.
What you’ll do
Own and evolve the vehicle taxonomy and attribute coverage (make/model/trim/options).
Define and enforce data quality foundations for listing creation, including validation rules and quality thresholds.
Lead external vehicle data partnerships: requirements, data exchange specs, and contract/vendor management.
Partner with engineering on data ingestion pipelines, validation routines, and operational quality controls.
Evaluate AI/ML opportunities for automation of data enrichment
Lead and empower a team of ~6 developers by providing direction, context, prioritization, and clarity.
Take technical product ownership of ~40 artefacts that touch the core of the mobile.de platform (e.g., APIs, schemas, data contracts, tooling, documentation, and supporting components).
Translate business needs into technical roadmaps, maintain a clean backlog, and ensure reliable quarterly deliverables.
Align and communicate across departments—ensuring shared understanding of priorities, constraints, dependencies, and trade-offs.
Manage a broad stakeholder set by translating complex technical topics into clear, decision-ready language and translating business goals into actionable engineering work.
Help shape the vision and roadmap for Vehicle Data - both product-wise and tech-wise—including modernization, scalability, reliability, and usability improvements.
What you’ll bring
Solid experience as a Technical Product Manager in a platform, infrastructure, or API-heavy environment.
Strong analytical skills—comfortable working with large datasets
Experience with B2B / API products involving external vendors/partners and negotiating requirements or data contracts.
Understanding of data integration patterns (REST APIs, batch imports, validation/quality checks).
Strong ability to work with engineering teams on technical concepts such as APIs, service boundaries, data models, reliability, and operational excellence.
Ability to create clarity in ambiguity: crisp problem framing, prioritisation, and decision-making under constraints.
Strong communication skills—able to simplify complex technical topics without losing accuracy.
Experience translating business goals into roadmaps, execution plans, and outcome-oriented delivery.
Nice to have
Experience working with REST APIs and API lifecycle management (contracts, versioning, documentation, backwards compatibility, consumer-driven changes).
Passion for automotive—or genuine curiosity and willingness to learn. Vehicle data is at the heart of what we do, and it helps if you enjoy the domain.
Our business language is english, confidence in speaking german is a plus
Nice-to-have: familiarity with VIN decoding and/or providers like DAT/JATO; experience applying AI/ML to enrichment/classification; background in marketplaces/automotive retail.
