What you’ll do ​& Who you are

This role is based at our Barcelona Tech Hub, where we develop cutting-edge technology to power our marketplaces at scale. As part of a cross-functional product development team, you will contribute to the success of Kleinanzeigen, Germany's leading online classifieds platform with over 36 million monthly users and 50 million active listings.

You will join Team Pro-2, one of the team in charge to boost a key area of revenue of Kleinanzeigen, the PRO Seller area. Our main focus is to grow the number of professional sellers and increase their efficiency. You will report directly to the Engineering Manager of the team. This is a hybrid role, and our lovely new office that combines modern amenities with the charm of Barcelona.

What You'll Do

• Work in a product development team together with backend and frontend engineers, as well as product and design.
• Build the technology future of online classifieds in a scalable, clean way.
• Improve our Java platform to make it better every day.
• Handle up to 60k requests per second while the platform is still growing.
• Ensure code quality and maintainability by improving build and test systems
• Be involved in the whole development lifecycle from architecture to QA and publishing.
• Promote your own ideas for code improvements and process improvements, and achieve the next level together with the team.
• Partner with our product and UX specialists to continuously improve our platform.
• Research and prototype solutions to exciting problems.

What You'll Bring

• 1-3 years of experience developing backend services with Java.
• You have a passion for writing clean code and an eye for simplicity and pragmatism.
• Experience with Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL or other), cloud-native development (AWS), version control systems (Git, Github), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), distributed message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis/Firehose), and monitoring and observability systems (Grafana or Datadog).
• Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Understanding of APIs, microservices architecture, and server-side processes
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• True team player with an excellent collaborative mindset and a drive to face challenges and learn.
• A passion for continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
